Why We Do it
In the Gambia, every year hundreds of girls are taken on Female Genital Mutilation; many suffer unnecessarily, are injured and made permanently to lose their sexual feeling from the practice, making them subjects of mockery by their husband for not satisfying and even encountering domestic violence. The fatalities are often aggravated due to general ignorance, incompetent medically unskilled persons, and unsterilized materials used during the process
How we do it
To respond effectively we must reach out to people in new exciting ways. Building up networks, creating and reinforcing partnership in various sectors, will assist us in our mission. Protecting health and saving lives through FGM entails concrete achievements: to win greater public and legislative support, to improve the quality service and availability of required resources, to motivate and retain staff & volunteers with systematic planning and management.
