INTERNATIONAL WORK/SERVICES
Research
Field research
Field research projects are based mainly at the up-country. Members of the senior staff regularly spend periods away from the greater Banjul area working on these projects and it may be possible for International students to accompany them. Sometimes it is possible to base a student at one of the field stations for the period of their elective.
Personal Research Projects
Personal projects will be carefully considered but it has been our experience that, in an area where a great deal of FGM & Domestic Violence research has been carried out during the past years, it is rarely possible for a student to set up and complete an individual research project during a 6-8 week visit. However, students may be able to contribute to an on-going research programme. All research projects require approval from the Research Unit. The processing of such applications usually takes at least 1 month.
Several students have developed model case reports and/or done Evidence Based FGM projects. Both of these activities are useful ways of extending the experience that you will gain.
